BALTIMORE – Coppin State head baseball coach Sherman Reed has announced that Steven Bumbry has joined the Eagles staff as an assistant coach.  Bumbry will serve as an assistant hitting and first base coach while also working with the outfielders.

"Steven comes from a rich tradition of baseball knowledge, leadership, and teaching, and we are very fortunate to have him join our already excellent coaching staff," said Reed. "Coaching Steven as a young 14-year-old, you could see that early on that he was destined for success in our game."

The son of Baltimore Orioles Hall of Famer, Al Bumbry, Steven was picked by the Orioles in the 12th round of the 2009 MLB Draft out of Virginia Tech and played for several minor league and independent teams from 2009 to 2014.

For the last five years, Bumbry has served as the Diamond Sports Director for The St. James Baseball Academy, a sports and wellness complex in Springfield, Va. Bumbry is also the Founder of Bee Well Living and Bee Balanced Therapies, a holistic wellness and performance company focused on recovery and high-performance sustainability.

Bumbry is Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) and Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP).
