Eagle Bowlers Top Howard for First MEAC Win of Season
December 05, 2011BALTIMORE -- The Coppin State bowling team, led by Loren Johnston, defeated Howard on Sunday in a Baker system match which marked the Eagles first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory of the season.
Not only was it the Eagles first MEAC win of the season, it was also Coppin State's first conference win in almost two years. The Eagles last posted a conference victory when it defeated Howard on Dec. 5, 2009.
The Eagles defeated Howard 3-1 (600-574) to post their lone victory of the weekend. CSU won the first game 171-139 before Howard won the second game 158-141. The Eagles won the third game 167-158 and the fourth game 121-119 to clinch the victory.
Johnston was once again the Eagles top performer as she averaged 198.4 in team play with a high game of 217 versus Morgan State.
Jade Dudley knocked down 702 pins and averaged 140.4 in the five games.
Stefanie Simmons had 680 pins and a 136 average, while Heather Josker averaged 126.4 and Nicole Boggs averaged 121.2.
