Eagles Claim First Victory in PEC
December 09, 2009BALTIMORE -- Vince Goldsberry hit a driving layup with 22 seconds left in overtime and added a free throw with 11 seconds to play helping to lift Coppin State to its first victory in the Physical Education Complex, a 63-58 overtime win against Loyola (Md.) on Wednesday night.
The overtime heroics of Goldsberry combined with the play of Lenny Young and Sam Coleman led the Eagles to their first victory in their new home.
Young led Coppin State with 21 points, while Coleman added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
Jamal Barney led Loyola with 16 points, while Brett Harvey added 10 points.
The Eagles limited Loyola to 28.4 percent shooting from the floor and committed only 10 turnovers.
Coppin State outscored the Greyhounds 11-6 in the extra session as Goldsberry poured in seven of his nine points in overtime.
