Hot Shooting First Half Lifts Richmond Past Coppin State
November 30, 2008RICHMOND, Va. -- David Gonzalvez led three players in double figures with 16 points and Richmond shot 69.2 percent from the floor in the first half on its way to a 78-67 non-conference victory over Coppin State on Sunday in the Robins Center.
Gonzalvez finished the game 6-of-12 from the field and also added eight rebounds and four assists. Kevin Anderson added 14 points and Jarhon Giddings had 12 for the Spiders (4-2).
Richmond made 18-of-26 attempts from the floor in the first half, including 9-of-16 three-point attempts, on its way to a 49-32 advantage at the intermission.
Coppin State (1-3) was led by senior Tywain McKee who scored 20 points, while freshman Jordan Lee added 15 points.
