CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Dan Grovatt, Corey Hunt and John Barr each drove in five runs leading No. 16 Virginia to a 27-1 non-conference victory over Coppin State on Thursday at Davenport Field.
The Cavaliers, who banged out 22 hits, scored seven runs in the first inning, six in the second and eight in the fifth on their way to improving to 6-0 on the season.
Robert Poutier was dominant on the mound for Virginia as he limited Coppin State to one hit over five innings while striking out 11.

Yampierre led off the Eagles sixth inning with a double and advanced to third one out later when Santalo singled to left. Williams then plated the CSU run with an RBI groundout.
Coppin State will open the home portion of the schedule on Friday (Feb. 29) at 5 p.m. against Saint Peter's at Joe Cannon Stadium.
