Eagle Bowlers Conclude Season With Pair of Victories
February 18, 2008BALTIMORE -- Coppin State concluded the 2007-08 season at the Morgan State Tournament on Sunday by winning two of three matches.
The Eagles defeated Cheyney and Winston-Salem State and almost pulled off a stunning upset of nationally-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson in Baker competition.
Coppin State defeated Cheyney 618-541 and Winston-Salem State 635-576 and dropped a 730-684 decision to Fairleigh Dickinson. The Eagles won the first two games against the Knights and held a 534-511 lead heading into the final game, but Fairleigh Dickinson caputred the final game 219-150 to pull out the victory.
Ashley Brine was Coppin State's top performer during five-person team matches by knocking down 911 pins for a 182.2 average. She had three games of 190 or better and her high game was 199 against Delaware State.
Shante Corbitt had 793 pins followed by Jade Dudley (665 pins), Erica Martin (644 pins) and Felicia Jones (475).
