BALTIMORE, Md. -- Sophomores Natoya Baird and Heneka Rolle will lead the Coppin State women's outdoor track and field team which begins competition at the 2007 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference on Thursday at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State.
Baird, who won the pentathlon championship at the MEAC Indoor Championships earlier this season, will compete in the 100-meter high hurdles, high jump, pole vault, javelin and heptathlon events. She has already qualifed for the NCAA Outdoor Regional Championships in the high jump and is one of the favorites in the heptathlon. Baird placed second in the heptathlon and fourth in the high jump at the 2006 MEAC Outdoor Championships.
Rolle has been the Eagles top performer in the throws and will compete in the shot put and the discus events. Last season, she placed seventh in the discus and fourth in the shot put.
Senior Felicia Gray finished sixth in the javelin throw, fourth in the discus and seventh in the shot put at last year's outdoor championship.
Sophomore Brittany Arvin finished eighth in the javelin throw in 2006 and will compete in the same event in 2007.
The MEAC Outdoor Championships will be held from May 3-5.
