Bowling Team Concludes Season With Strong Performance
March 04, 2013WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Coppin State bowling team wrapped up the 2012-13 season with its top performance of the year as the Eagles posted a 5-5 record at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Northern Division Tournament hosted by Howard.
The Eagles, who finished the season with a school-record 22 wins, posted a 3-2 record in team match play and a 2-3 record in baker play.
Coppin State recorded two narrow victories in team match play, as the Eagles edged Howard 842-838 and topped Hampton 785-783. CSU also beat Delaware State by a score of 892-840, which marked the Eagles highest pin total in a team match this season.
Kristen Sharpe was Coppin State's top bowler during team play as she knocked down a season-best 910 pins and averaged 182 per game.
Loren Johnston averaged 172.6 per game, while Kache Woods averaged 167.2 per game. Erica Washington had 749 pins and averaged 149.8 per game, while Paige Arnold averaged 140.2 per game.
In baker play, the Eagles defeated Howard 683-607 and also beat Morgan State by a score of 626-607.
