Five Maryland Pitchers Combine To Throw No-Hitter Against Coppin State

COLLEGE PARK, Md. Five Maryland pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter in a 12-0 victory over Coppin State in non-conference action on Wednesday at Shipley Field.
 
Brett Curll was credited with the win after pitching two innings and striking out two. Tim Kearney, Brett Jones, and Nick Pearce pitched two innings each. Brian Shellamer finished the game by relieving Pearce in the ninth. The Terps (18-8) pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts in the game, dropping the Eagles to 0-20 on the season.
 
Dan Benick batted 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Mike Murphy had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Joe Palumbo and A.J. Casario each notched two hits in the game.
 
Maryland opened the game with two runs in the first and scored in every inning but the eighth. The Terps four-run seventh inning was the largest of the game.
 
Coppin State returns to action on Saturday (March 31) when it faces Norfolk State in a doubleheader at Joe Cannon Stadium.
