Cherubet Earns Top-10 Finish at Delaware State Invitational
September 10, 2012DOVER, Del. -- Senior Irene Cherubet earned a sixth-place finish to lead the Coppin State women's cross country team at the Delaware State Invitational on Friday.
Cherubet completed the 5k course in a time of 20:01.15 to finish sixth overall, while Latitia Salley of Maryland Eastern Shore won the race in a time of 19:19.09.
It marked the fourth career top-10 finish for Cherubet and extended her streak of being the Eagles top finisher to eight straight meets.
Jennifer Mitchell and Lakayzia Alston were the Eagles second and third finishers. Mitchell placed 32nd overall in 24:26.28, while Alston was 34th in a time of 24:33.41.
Shena Brownell and Amanda Boykins completed the Coppin State contingent. Brownell placed 42nd overall in a time of 26:06.18, while Boykins was 73rd in a time of 35:30.84.
Coppin State finished seventh in the team standings with 150 points, while Hampton won the meet with 37 points.
