Thomas Leads Coppin State Men's Cross Country Team In Season Opener
September 02, 2012HUNT VALLEY, Md. – Led by Andre Thomas, the Coppin State men’s cross country team opened its 2012 season at the Baltimore Metro on Friday at Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley, Md.
Thomas was the Eagles top finisher on the afternoon as he placed 22nd overall in a time of 17:14.17 over the 5k course. Hugh Prince was the second Coppin State runner to cross the finish line as he placed 34th overall in 18:23.76.
Led by Thomas the Eagles earned a fourth-place finish in the team standings with 92 points. Johns Hopkins finished first in the team standings with 15 points, while Hood was second with 69 points and McDaniel placed third with 72 points.
Michael McCoy, Robert Arrington and Imhotep Simba completed the Coppin State scoring unit. McCoy placed 48th in 21:25.62, Arrington finished 49th in 21:26.69 and Simba earned a 51st-place finish in 23:15.68.
Blake Anderson rounded out the Coppin State contingent by placing 53rd overall in a time of 24:51.94.
Max Robinson of Johns Hopkins captured the individual title in a time of 15:50.59.
