Baseball Signs Darryl Martinez
June 29, 2012BALTIMORE -- Darryl Martinez has signed a letter of intent to attend Coppin State University and play baseball for the Eagles announced head coach Sherman Reed on Friday.
Martinez spent the last two years at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa and will enroll at Coppin State in the fall.
"Darryl will provide much needed experience and leadership on our pitching staff," said Reed. "He has good control of his breaking pitch, which compliments his 87-90 mile per hour fastball. We expect him to compete for a lead position on our pitching staff from day one."
Martinez compiled three wins and notched two saves in his two years at Ellsworth. Serving primarily as a relief pitcher, he recorded nine scoreless appearances during his career at Ellsworth.
