Victorian Preps for NCAA Outdoor Track Championships
June 05, 2012BALTIMORE -- Coppin State junior Jibri Victorian is seeded fourth in the 400-meter hurdles for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will begin on Wednesday (June 6) at Drake University.
Victorian is seeded fourth in the 24-man field with his school-record time of 50.10. Amaechi Morton of Stanford is the top-ranked hurdler entering the event with a seasonal-best time of 49.06. David Aristil of South Florida is ranked second (49.60), while Jamele Mason on Texas Tech is ranked third (49.91).
Victorian, who joins Steve Delice as the only CSU athletes to make back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Outdoor Championships, is slated to run in the third of the three heats. He is the second-seeded runner in the heat behind only Aristil. The remainder of the third heat is comprised of Zach Ray (Maryland), Eric Cray (Oklahoma), Chris Carter (BYU), Keyunta Hayes (Texas-San Antonio), Miles Ukaoma (Nebraska) and Javonte Lipsey (North Carolina).
The event is scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. CT.
The top two finishers from each heat and the two next fastest times overall will advance to the 400-meter hurdle final on Friday (June 8).
Last season, Victorian placed seventh in his heat and 22nd overall in the semifinals in a time of 52.10.
