Manley Powers Coppin State Past North Carolina A&T

January 23, 2012
BALTIMORE -- Senior Jeanine Manley scored a career-high 38 points leading Coppin State to an 85-63 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over North Carolina A&T on Monday in the Physical Education Complex.

The 38 points ranks as the second-highest ever by a Coppin State player trailing only the school record 43 points scored by Thelma Lyles on Dec. 18, 1988.

Manley finished the game 14-of-18 from the field and also made 10-of-13 from the free throw line to help the Eagles post their eighth win in the last nine games.

Coppin State (10-10, 5-2 MEAC) also received 10 points and six rebounds from Leola Spotwood and eight points and eight rebounds from Larrisa Carter.

North Carolina A&T (7-12, 2-4 MEAC) was led by Amber Calvin who had 18 points, while JaQuayla Berry finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Coppin State raced out to a 42-23 lead at halftime and then held off an Aggie rally midway through the second half to post the victory.
