Hornets Take Advantage of Coppin State Defensive Lapses
April 17, 2010BALTIMORE - Breanne Parr drove in four runs and Delaware State took advantage of 10 Coppin State fielding errors to record a sweep of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at the Coppin State Softball Complex.
The Hornets won the first game 10-1 and followed with a 15-1 victory in game two.
Coppin State (16-16, 4-4 MEAC) committed five errors in each game and mustered only eight hits in the two games.
Delaware State (22-12, 5-3 MEAC) used a five-run fourth inning to pull away in the first game and scored 12 runs in the fourth and fifth innings of the second game.
Andrea Waters picked up the victory for Delaware State in the opener, while Casey Beighly won the second game.
Jade Dudley led the Eagles by going 3-for-3 with a home run in the two games, while Charma Robinson had a pair of hits in the second game.
The two teams will conclude the three-game series on Sunday (April 18) beginning at 1 p.m. at the CSU Softball Complex.
