won the triple jump and broke the school record in the process during competition at the Delaware Open at the Delaware Stadium on Saturday.
Epps won the event by posting a jump of 39-10.00, which shattered the previous school record of 39-3 held by Natoya Baird. Additionally, Epps' jump qualified her for the ECAC Outdoor Championships.
The triple jump victory highlighted a busy day for Epps as she also competed in the 100 hurdles, the high jump and the long jump. She placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 17-8, finished fifth in the 100 hurdles in 15.45 and was eighth in the high jump by clearing 5-00.25.
The Eagles also received a first-place finish from sprinter Shanee Smith
in the 200 meters. She completed the race in 25.68 and also placed second in the 100 meters in 12.35.
Mykal Lee posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the throws. She placed third in the shot put with a toss of 38-9.00, which ranks fifth in Coppin State history. She also was sixth in the discus with a throw of 103-06.
finished third in the long jump with an effort of 18-6.00, which stands as the fifth-best jump in Coppin State outdoor history. She also was third in the 200 meters in 25.74, 10th in the 100 hurdles in 16.14 and 14th in the high jump with a jump of 4-10.25.
