Delice Advances to Finals at NCAA Regional
May 30, 2008TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Coppin State junior Steve Delice advanced to the finals of the 400-meter hurdles by placing second in his heat at the NCAA East Region Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at Mike Long Track on the campus of Florida State.
Delice finished second in the opening heat of the preliminaries in 51.26, which trailed only Cory Nelms of Miami who won the race in 50.83.
The winners of the six preliminary heats and the next two runners on time advanced to the finals on Saturday. Delice finished eighth overall and will attempt to earn a berth in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships by placing in the top five of the finals.
Sophomore Carlinton Morgan failed to advance to the finals in the 400 meters. Competing in the fifth heat, Morgan finished third in 47.06 and placed 17th overall.
Arlon Morrison finished 27th in the javelin throw with a season-best throw of 186-0.
