HANOVER, Md.— The Coppin State baseball team fell 19-1 and 10-0 in a doubleheader against Delaware State in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action on Sunday at Joe Cannon Stadium.
The Hornets (15-12-1, 5-0 MEAC) used a 14-run sixth inning to cement victory in the first game. DSU retired the Eagles (0-27, 0-8 MEAC) in order in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

in the bottom of the inning to make the score 1-1. The Eagles were held scoreless the remainder of the afternoon.
Justin Bittner tripled to right-center in the top of the second and scored on a groundout from Jarrett Bibb. Shelley drove in Jim Johnson to give DSU a 3-1 lead. The Hornets added a pair of runs in the fourth before nearly twice batting through their order in the sixth.
Seven Delaware State players notched two RBI in the game, while Bittner led the team with three hits. JR McCallister improved to 6-1 by striking out eight batters and allowing two hits in six innings on the mound.
Jamie Friel struck out five batters to earn the shutout in the nightcap. Alex Carter led the Hornets with three hits, including two doubles.
Randy Boyer doubled in a pair of runs in the first. Coppin State walked in two runs and the Hornets brought in two with singles in the top of the second. Jim Johnson used a sacrifice fly to drive in a run in the third and fourth, while Gravely and Boyer both scored in the fourth to bring the game to its final score.
The teams conclude the series on Monday (March 9) at 3 p.m. at Joe Cannon Stadium.
