Coppin State Secures Berth in MEAC Baseball Tournament
May 04, 2010BALTIMORE -- The Coppin State baseball team secured a berth in the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament with its victory over Florida A&M on Sunday marking the first postseason appearance for the Eagles since the 2006 season.
The Eagles 17-8 victory over Florida A&M, combined with a Bethune-Cookman sweep of Maryland Eastern Shore, guaranteed CSU a berth in the six-team tournament that will determine the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Coppin State, who has a 12-28 overall record and a 6-8 slate in the MEAC, is currently in fourth place in the league standings. The Eagles have a makeup game against Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday from an earlier rained out contest and will conclude conference play this weekend against North Carolina A&T.
The Eagles last postseason appearance came in the 2006 season when the Eagles went 1-2 in tournament play.
