
The crown jewel of Coppin State's athletic facilities is the Physical Education Complex, which was completed in the fall of 2009. The Physical Education Complex is a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose sports and entertainment center. The 246,000 square foot facility that has 4,100 fixed seats for basketball and concerts was completed at a cost of $136 million dollars. It is the home for the Coppin State men's and women's basketball teams as well as the volleyball team.
Since hosting its first event on December 5, 2009, the Physical Education Complex has also hosted the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) volleyball championships along with numerous Coppin State University academic events. The NCAA has also contacted Coppin State about hosting championship events inside of its facility.
Additionally, the complex includes a 400-meter outdoor track, a softball field, tennis courts, a soccer field, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, two weight rooms, racquetball courts, two auxiliary gymnasiums and a dance facility. Various Coppin State departments, including the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, are also housed within the complex as well as classrooms and office space.
Ticket Office and Ticketing
The Physical Education Complex features two ticket offices within the facility. The main ticket office is located at the entrance on the corner of Warwick Avenue and Gwynns Falls Parkway, which features four ticket windows. A second ticket office is located at the southwest entrance to the building.
Broadcast
The Physical Education Complex is pre-cabled for basketball, volleyball and concert camera positions with triax, coax and audio pairs. Truck parking is located in the loading dock, which is located at the Gwynns Falls Parkway entrance. During the 2014-15 season, the Coppin State-Morgan State men's basketball game and the MEAC Volleyball championship contest were televised live on ESPNU from the PEC Arena.
Concessions and Catering
All concessions and catering are provided by Aramark Catering. There are two concessions stands located on the concourse level of the Physical Education Complex.
Public Restrooms
There are four public restrooms located on the main concourse level of the Physical Education Complex. All plumbing fixtures are equipped with water-saving features.
Suites
There are two suites located on the main concourse level of the Physical Education Complex. Each suite is capable of hosting up to 30 guests comfortably.
Scoreboard and Video System
The Arena has a state-of-the-art center-hung Daktronics scoreboard with a four sided screen. The scoreboard features full animation and graphics capabilities. The PEC also features a large LED video board located on the east end of the basketball arena.
Locker Rooms
The Physical Education Complex features six locker rooms with shower and restroom facilities. Two additional locker rooms are available for officials.
Conference Meeting Room
On the third floor of the facility is a state-of-the-art conference room. The room features whiteboard and smart technology as well as the ability to conduct conference calls.
