TAMPA, Fla. – Coppin State's
Aaron Lewis (110m hurdles) and
Joseph Amoah (200m dash) qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 6-9 at Hayward Field.
A sophomore from Scarborough, Trinidad & Tobago, Lewis took fourth in his heat in 13.83 but ran the eighth fastest time of the quarterfinal to advance to Nationals. Lewis' mark was the fastest of non-automatic qualifiers on the day.
Amoah, a fellow sophomore from Greater Accra, Ghana, finished in 20.58 to take fourth in his heat and ninth overall. Like Lewis, Amoah was the fastest of non-automatic qualifiers as the top three in each heat are guaranteed a spot.
In the semifinal round, there will be three heats with the top two finishers from each section automatically qualifying for the final, plus the next two fastest times.
