COLUMBIA, S.C. – Outdoor Track & Field season is now in full swing for the Coppin State as the Eagles competed at the Weems Baskin Invitational this weekend at the University of South Carolina's Sheila & Morris Cregger Track.
Aidan Alston medaled for Coppin with a second place performance in the javelin with a toss of 116' 8". Alston also competed in the pole vault and cleared 9' 2.25" which was good for 11
th place overall.
Tre'J Johnson also recorded a top five finish, taking fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 38' 5.0". Johnson also sailed 17' 6.75" in the long jump, just behind
Randi Bohler who traveled 17' 7" in the event.
Bohler also led CSU in the 100m Dash (12.96), just ahead of
Astahia Wells (13.09) and led ran a leg of the 4x100m Relay (49.57) along with
Eriell Wallace,
Erykah Jerome and
Jasmine Henery.
In other field events,
Alanna Newby took 19
th in the shot put (36'11.50).
Elsewhere on the track,
Tatiana Ogundeko took 11
th in the 1,500m (4:53.75) while Wallace placed 14
th in the 400m Dash (56.58) despite running in Lane 9. Jerome also had a solid performance in the 400m with a time of 59.13 and ran a team-best 26.02 in the 200m Dash.
Henery and
Lunnise Gibson had notable performances in the 400m hurdles (1:09.67) and 800m Run (2:31.73), respectively.
Coppin won't have much time off as they compete at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville on March 29-31.
