COLUMBIA, S.C. – The trio of
Joseph Amoah,
Martin Owusu-Antwi and
Aaron Lewis once again were impressive as the Coppin State men's track & field team competed at the Weems Baskin Invitational this weekend at the University of South Carolina's Sheila & Morris Cregger Track.
In the 100m Dash, Amoah too fourth overall and second among collegians, finishing in 10.39, while Owusu-Antwi finished in 10.60. Owusu-Antwi was the third-best collegiate finisher in the 200m Dash in 21.24 which was fifth overall. Also in the 100m Dash,
Devin Teagle finished in 11.12 and
Babadeji Balogun clocked an 11.17.
In his outdoor season opener, Lewis clocked the fourth fastest preliminary time in the 110m hurdles in 14.15 but did not run in the final. Lewis did however join Amoah, Owusu-Antwi and Babadeji in the 4x100m Relay to a fifth place finish in 41.60.
Anija Addison turned in an impressive sixth place performance in the 800m Run (1:55.62) while
Mark London and
Cheyenne Johnson were solid in both the 1,500m Run (4:07.29) and 400m hurdles (55.41), respectively.
In field events,
Elijah Noel took 10
th overall in the long jump (22' 3.75") while
Balvin Richards tossed the shot put 44' 8.25" to place 15
th.
Coppin won't have much time off as they compete at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville on March 29-31.
