Deacon & Forte Set School-Records at Scarlet & White Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Kristen Deacon once again broke her own school-record in the weight throw, leading the Coppin State women's track & field team at the Boston University Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational on Saturday.
 
A junior from Kingston, Jamaica, Deacon finished second in the weight throw with a toss of 58' 8.75" (17.90m).  Deacon also led the Eagles in the shot put with a 41' 9.25" effort.
 
A new school-record was also set in the pole vault with Savannah Forte clearing 10' 0.5".
 
In the short sprints, Coppin was paced by Erielle Wallace who clocked an 8.00 in the 60m Dash and 25.25 in the 200m Dash.  Randi Bohler crossed the finish of the 60m hurdles in 9.67.
 
Erykah Jerome keeps improving her times and crossed the finish of the 400m Dash in 57.87 with Jasmine Henery finishing in 1:00.58.
 
Tatiana Ogundeko and Lunnise Gibson competed in the 800m Dash and Mile and finished in 2:18.23 and 5:50.82, respectively. 
 
In other field events, Bohler also led Coppin in the long jump (17' 7.5") while Tre'J Johnson also cleared 17 feet with an effort of 17' 0.5". 
 
Coppin State returns to the track on Friday, February 9 for the Fast Track invitational in Staten Island, N.Y. in its final tuneup for the MEAC Championships on February 15-17.
