STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Coppin State's women's track & field team sent several individuals over the weekend to the Penn State National Open and the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason University.
Leading the way for the Eagles at Penn State was
Erielle Wallace who finished the 400m Dash in 55.89, taking fourth in the National Invite. Wallace also led the 4x400m Relay to close out the Open in a time of 3:56.43. Joining Wallace on the relay was
Erykah Jerome,
Jasmine Henery and
Tatiana Ogundeko.
The trio joining Wallace also had notable performances in individual events. Jerome finished the 200m and 400m Dash in 26.12 and 58.29, respectively, while Henery finished just behind in the 200m Dash in 26.61.
Ogundeko placed ninth in the 800m Run in 2:19.48.
Just outside our nation's capital at George Mason,
Tre'J Johnson won the triple jump with an effort of 38' 0.75". Johnson also leaped 16' 2.25" in the long jump with teammate
Randi Bohler covering 17' 4.0" in the event.
In other field events,
Alanna Newby took second in the shot put with a toss of 37' 10.75" and 36' 7.5" in the weight throw.
Savannah Forte and
Aidan Alston cleared 9' 8" and 9' 2.25" in the pole vault.
On the track,
Astahia Wells competed in the 60m (8.46) and 200m Dash (27.54) while
Lunnise Gibson finished the Mile in 5:49.09.
The Eagles will return to the track for the Scarlet & White Invitational at Boston University on February 1-3.
