Amoah Breaks Own School-Record in Day 1 of Penn State National Open

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Sophomore Joseph Amoah broke his own school-record in the 60m Dash to lead Coppin State's men's track & field team in the first day of the Penn State National Open on Friday night.
 
Amoah finished second overall in the event, running a 6.81 in the prelims, followed by a record-breaking 6.72 in the semifinal finals before running a 6.73 in the finals to take the silver.  Amoah was bested by one-hundredth of a second by Penn State senior Xavier Smith.  Amoah's old school-record was 6.78 which he ran at the 2017 IC4A Championships.
 
Teammates Martin Owusu-Antwi and Keshaun Hodges also took sixth and seventh, respectively in the event in times of 6.81 and 6.94.  Owusu also notched times of 6.79 and 6.80 in the prelims and semifinals while Hodges recorded times of 6.94 and 6.87.
 
Also competing for the Eagles was Aaron Lewis who took second in the 60m hurdles in 7.95 after running an 8.06 to qualify earlier in the day.
 
The second day of the Open will start on Saturday at 11:20 am.
