Deacon, Johnson Medal at Terrapin Invite

LANDOVER, Md. – Led by Kristen Deacon in the weight throw and Tre'J Johnson in the triple jump, the Coppin State women's track & field team finished 10th of 20 schools at the Terrapin Invite held at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Center on Saturday.
 
Deacon was victorious in the weight throw for the third-straight meet and once again recorded a personal-record with a toss of 17.74m (58' 2.5").  Deacon also led the Eagles in the shot put with a ninth-place finish with a season-best throw of 12.27m (40' 3.25"). Alanna Newby also set a personal-record in the weight throw (11.42m).
 
Johnson narrowly missed setting a PR in the triple jump, but took third overall in 11.48m (37' 8").
 
In other field events, Randi Bohler (16' 5.75") sailed 5.02m in the long jump and Savannah Forte cleared 2.90m (9' 6.25") in the pole vault.
 
On the track, Coppin was led by a third-place finishing 4x400m Relay team of Erykah Jerome, Erielle Wallace, Jasmine Henery and Tatiana Ogundeko who crossed the finish in 4:00.17.  Individually, Jerome also took sixth in the 400m Dash (59.88) while Ogundeko doubled up in the 600m Run (1:48.20) and Mile (5:26.25).
 
Lunnise Gibson also doubled up in a pair of distance events, finishing the Mile in 5:54.17 and 3,000m Run in 12:04.87.
 
Coppin returns to the track on January 26-27 at the Penn State National Open.
