Amoah wins 400 at HBCU Challenge

Lewis, London Win Golds at Terrapin Invite

LANDOVER, Md. – Aaron Lewis and Mark London won their respective races and Joseph Amoah medaled in another to lead Coppin State's men's track & field team to a sixth place finish at the Terrapin Invite on Saturday at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.
 
After running the top preliminary time of 8.07 in the 60m hurdles, Lewis came back and won the event with an 8.08 time in the finals.  In the same event, Cheyenne Johnson also qualified for finals and took seventh overall in 8.50.
 
In the 600m Dash, London took the gold in a blistering 1:22.59, besting the next closest competitor by over two seconds.  London also doubled up on the day and finished the Mile in 4:33.25.
 
Amoah took the silver in the 60m Dash in a finals time on 6.81, just .01 off the win.  Teammate Martin Owusu-Antwi took fourth in the final in 6.88 but ran the fastest preliminary time of 6.82.  Devin Teagle ran the 5th fastest preliminary time of 7.02 but did not run in the final despite qualifying.
 
In other sprint events, Justin Turner doubled up in the 200m Dash (23.50) and 400m Dash (53.84) while Babadeji Balogun was slightly quicker in the 400m Dash (53.75).
 
Anija Addison recorded in a top ten finish in the 800m Run (2:01.21) and Elijah Noel took seventh in the long jump (21' 10") and eighth in the triple jump (44' 1.5")
 
Coppin returns to the track on January 26-27 at the Penn State National Open.
