NEW YORK, N.Y. – Joseph Amoah won the 400m Dash in impressive fashion to lead the Coppin State men's track & field team at the HBCU Battle at the Track held at the Armory Track & Field Center Friday afternoon.
A sophomore from Greater Accra, Ghana, Amoah crossed the finish in a personal record 47.99. His sub-48 is tops in the MEAC this season and ranks sixth in NCAA Division I this season. Amoah was followed closely by
Martin Owusu-Antwi who took third in the event in 48.11, shaving .40 off his time from earlier this season and ties for 12
th in the Nation.
Anija Addison and
Cheyenne Johnson went 2-3, respectively in the 500m Dash as well. Addison took the silver in 1:05.62 while Johnson finished just after in 1:05.88.
Also medaling for the Eagles was
Mark London who finished third overall in the Mile in 4:32.67.
Keshaun Hodges led Coppin in a pair of events on the day, taking fifth in a personal-record 6.84 in the 60m Dash. Hodges, who ran a 6.97 in the 60m prelims to qualify for the finals, also clocked a 22.54 in the 200m Dash.
In the field events,
Elijah Noel took fifth overall with a jump of 21' 11.0"
Coppin returns to the track on Saturday, January 20 at the Terrapin Invitational in Landover, Md.
